Teen Loses Bingo Jackpot Due to Age

What should have been one of the sweetest moments of a British teenager's life has turned into one of the most bitter as she was forced to forfeit a ?200 000 bingo jackpot that she won at a bingo hall for being under the legal gambling age.

Within hours of the windfall, it was revealed that the unnamed teen had lied to club officials about her age. Instead of being 18, the legal gambling age in the United Kingdom, she actually turned out to be only 17, in effect breaking the law.

The saga took place at the Commodore Club in Star Street, Ryde last Sunday evening, where the teenager shocked her fellow bingo players by calling Bingo after only 35 bingo numbers were called.

One witness described having a conversation with the girl earlier that evening who said she had only recently turned 18. Unfortunately the girl did not receive a penny and the jackpot went instead to a man from London who called bingo after 36 numbers.

As in land bingo halls, the same legal gambling age limit exists and is enforced in online bingo casinos to prevent minors from gambling online.
