April 11 - 888Ladies, the popular online bingo site, has dispelled the
myth that the game is one played by the blue-rinse brigade in dusty church
halls. According to new research, whole regions in the United Kingdom are
experiencing a huge upsurge in bingo's popularity, thanks to the advent of
internet bingo.
According to 888Ladies, more and more professional women are enjoying this
form of entertainment as a way to socialize and relax after work.
The study showed that in Yorkshire alone, over 30,000 women took their bingo
fun online every week. 22 percent of those interviewed said that they played
bingo more often than they went to gym, while 12 percent said that they played
bingo more often than they had sex each week!
All in all, Yorkshire women were paid out over 18-million Pounds last year
for their bingo fun, it was revealed.
The game has increased in popularity due to a number of reasons. It is
promoted by celebrities such as Jade Jagger and Catherine Zeta Jones who have
stated often that they enjoy a game of online bingo whenever they can.
Another reason for women taking their bingo entertainment online is due to
the new smoking ban in the United Kingdom that makes it illegal to smoke in a
public place. This has affected land-based bingo halls but has led many people
to try online bingo as an alternative.
The vice president of brand marketing at 888Ladies, Matt Robinson said: "The
stereotype of the traditional OAP bingo player is truly dated. Today's online
players are independent, professional women who enjoy all the fun of the game
but on their terms. With today's sites you are as likely to find gaggles of
girls getting together for a natter in a bingo chat room as you are down at a
Leeds wine bar."
