No Arrests after Alabama Church Bingo Robbery - 10-16-06

Yet another bingo venue in the United States has been the target of criminals, this time in the town of Mobile, Alabama last Friday evening, when a security guard was shot in the abdomen as he tried to foil an attempted robbery.

Local police are still on the lookout for three men who were seen fleeing the scene of the shootout which took place outside St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, a bingo venue that evening.

The security guard, 60-year-old Thomas Aricer, exchanged gunfire with the suspects when he was shot. He was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he remains in serious condition.

The attempted robbery took place as Aricer was escorting he church's business manager and another church employee across the parking lot to deliver the night's bingo takings to the Church rectory.

An increase in bingo-related crime has caused many bingo fans to play bingo online from the safety and security of their own homes.
