Malta Grants Bingo Community Operating License - 01-27-09

January 27 - Bingo.com Ltd., which operates the globally recognized Bingo.com bingo site and community, has managed to obtain a foot in the door to the European market after applying for an operations license from Malta.

It was announced last week that the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority has granted a 'letter of intent' to Bingo.com's wholly owned subsidiary on the island, Bingo.com Operations Ltd.

The letter essentially allows the company to launch and operate a gaming site from a hosting facility in Malta, subject to certain conditions. Bingo.com said that it was left with several small things to complete before the site is launched and they meet all the conditions set by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

One of the main advantages of the license from this jurisdiction is that fact Bingo.com can now market its products and services to the United Kingdom market under the National Gambling Act legislation.

The Chief Executive Officer of Bingo.com Ltd., Tarrnie Williams said in a statement: "We are very pleased to have received an LOI from the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority. Online bingo is booming in the United Kingdom and we are excited to have the opportunity to strengthen our position as one of the premier online bingo destinations for European players."
