Armed Robbers Terrorize Bingo Halls in Britain - 11-27-06

Not too long ago we reported an armed robbery involving proceeds from a bingo evening held at a church near the Canadian city of Albuquerque, and now it seems British bingo halls are also being targeted by robbers.

In the most recent event in Britain, three robbers armed with knives made off with thousands of pounds from Gala Bingo Hall in Brighton last Sunday evening (November 19, 2006).

Local police suspect that the same three men may have been responsible for robbing the same bingo hall in August this year, as well as a string of other armed robberies targeting British bingo halls in the past few months.

For instance, in October this year three 'balaclava-clad' robbers held a staff member of Gala Bingo near Basildon at knifepoint and made off with ?13 000 and, in July, armed robbers made off with ?20 000 in a daring raid on a bingo hall in Thurrock, Essex.

A police spokeswoman was quoted as saying that the police were investigating the possibility that the Brighton raids and the other raids were all connected. She went on to say that they were particularly interested in the times that the robberies were taking place.
